Takahashi Seisakusho was established in Tokyo in 1932 and sold its first telescope, a 65 mm refractor on an equatorial mount, in 1967. Ten years later, in 1977, it introduced the TS90F, which it calls the world's first fluorite apochromat, and fluorite has been its signature ever since. The FC series followed in 1981 and the FS series in 1994, with the tiny FS-60C in 1999, the Sky90 in 2000 and the four-element FSQ astrographs from 1999 on. It casts its own metal parts and makes its own mounts too, like the EM-200 of 1989. In the United States, Texas Nautical Repair imported Takahashi from 1983, and Takahashi U.S. in Woodland Hills, California, is the distributor now. Used Takahashis hold their appeal because they're built to last.
