The FSQ-85ED is the small member of Takahashi's FSQ astrograph family, nicknamed the Baby Q. It's an 85 mm f/5.3 with a 450 mm focal length, built as an improved Petzval with four elements in four groups, including two ED elements, which gives sharp stars over a wide field for cameras. Takahashi designed it when APS-C sensors were the norm, so it's at its best on those, and the company sells a 1.01x flattener for full-frame corners. It came with a rack-and-pinion focuser and a 1:7 microfocuser as standard. In November 2017 the FSQ-85EDP replaced the original with a camera-friendly drawtube and rotator, sold abroad as the FSQ-85EDX. It's a lifetime wide-field tube if the optics and focuser are clean.
