Orion Telescopes & Binoculars started in 1975 in a garage in Santa Cruz, California, and grew into one of the biggest telescope sellers in the United States, later based in Watsonville. Much of what it sold was made for it by Synta, the Taiwanese company behind Sky-Watcher, including its ED refractors and equatorial mounts, while Orion designed and branded the kits. Its SkyQuest XT Dobsonians became the standard recommendation for a first serious telescope. In June 2021 Orion bought Meade out of bankruptcy. Then on July 9, 2024, Orion let its staff go and shut its offices, and its assets went to auction. So there's no Orion support or warranty now, but the scopes are simple and many share parts with Sky-Watcher models.
